What is MUN?

MUN is an acronym for Model United Nations, also referred to as Model UN. It is a style of debating where individuals represent the policy of countries on a specific topic. It has specific rules and structures that are followed, but this is directed by the chairs so it’s not something to worry about

Do I have to have experience to join UNA York?

Nope! UNA York prides itself on being a beginner-friendly MUN society. We gear our sessions towards beginners, while ensuring that seasoned MUNers are challenged and engaged during debates. 

How can I take part?

You can join our email list or follow our Instagram to keep updated for events and upcoming sessions. You must be a student at the University of York or an associate member in order to participate. You can buy membership at yusu.org too. 

Why should I join UNA York?

Joining our society is a great way to meet people who are passionate about International Politics at a variety of ages and stages in education. If that sounds too intimidating, we can assure you that we have a variety of students who attend MUN for a variety of reasons. If you enjoy debating or negotiating, you’ll probably like MUN.
